Today, we will discuss the perspectives that we will be using to examine the play Othello.
Review Cultural criticism (text p. 258).
Read about Marxist criticism (text p. 190).
Complete the Marxist hierarchy activity on pp. 269-271 of your text.
You will complete the Perspectives in Othello_Lenses.docx chart and the Othello Evidence Log New Rev.docx as we study Othello. You will be allowed to use these two charts on the written portion of the Othello test. Because you will be required to use cited evidence from the text in your written answers, you will be unable to achieve a passing grade on the written responses without the details you record on these charts – you will NOT be allowed to use the text during the test.
Read about subtext, stage directions, and perspectives in a drama on text pp. 147, 176, and 177.
You may wish to download the Othello study guide as preparation for the multiple choice portion of the test (Othello Unit Plan Yeah.pdf, pp. 17-18).
