Research, Day 22
Today you will add your Works Cited page to your paper. As you have written your paper, you have inserted the parenthetical citations for the sources you have quoted and paraphrased. Now you need to add the last page of the paper – the Works Cited page. The Works Cited page includes the bibliographic citation for each of the sources you have actually used in your paper.
The bibliographic citation is the citation that includes the author, title, and all publication information for the source you have used. You have already created one of these citations when you created your Annotated Bibliography (it is ONLY the first part of the Annotated Bibliography, NOT the summary and assessment). See pages 25-38 for the details of creating the Works Cited page (there are sample Works Cited pages on pages 26, 120-121, and 133 of the Essay Guide. The example on pages 120-121 is the Works Cited page for the final sample essay which is given on pages 113-119 (so you can see how all of it fits together in ONE file). The Works Cited page is simply the last page(s) of your essay file.
Follow these steps:
- Watch the video titled “Works Cited page” in the Writing – Videos folder on the Google drive.
- Read pages 25-26 in the Essay Guide.
- Look at the sample Works Cited pages on pages 26, 120-121, and 133 of the Essay Guide.
- Open your research paper file and navigate to the LAST PAGE. The Works Cited page must be on the next page after your conclusion, titled Works Cited.
- Create the bibliographic citations for each source you have cited in your paper (in alphabetical order with a hanging indent).
- You will NOT submit this to Turnitin. You will continue with the next step in this same file.
You have no vocabulary assignment other than adding vocabulary words to your essay.
Contact: My normal online “office hours” will are from 10:30 until noon, Monday thru Thursday. TODAY, I have an appointment and will not be here until around 11:00. If you have a question or concern, you may email me and I will get right back to you. If you email me outside of office hours, I WILL respond, but there might be a delay in the response since I do occasionally have to get out of this desk chair! 😊 If you need to speak with me, email me and we can set up a time to talk via phone or Zoom. You will need a password to access the Zoom meeting. I will give you the password when you set up the appointment.
Email: I have been corresponding with many of you via email, and I would like to make a request. When you email me, please sign your email (or at least make sure your first AND last name are both in your email address). I have received several unsigned emails that I wasn’t really sure who the sender was (Email doesn’t work like a text message – you need to tell me who you are rather than assuming I will know.). Who knows? I might have been answering questions for students who aren’t even mine! (I hope their teacher doesn’t mind! :-D).
Assignments: I will post the day’s assignments by 9:30 every morning.
Have a great day! Stay safe and healthy!
