Activities:
  1. Introduce idea of rigid social divisions (Marxist social structure) that are pronounced in Victorian society and continue into the Modern period.
  2. Introduce idea of English being able to tell origin and social class of individuals based on accent alone.
  3. Begin watching My Fair Lady.
  4. Vocab 12 Syn/Ant.

  2. Read aloud, answer MC Qs; then, discuss poetry.
  3. Satire Celebrity Revised.ppt.
  4.   7. Group Work: analyze sections of Swift's satire - present this work to the class: A Modest Proposal Chunking Analysis.docx.

  4. Discuss warrant, audience, structure, ethos, pathos, and logos in “A Modest Proposal.”
  5. Assign satire essay and begin working: Due Apr. 25 (Modest Proposal Assignment Honors.docx; Modest Proposal Rubric Honors.docx).
